I'm Alexis Doan, the Creative Director behind Studio Lex, a Creative Studio based in Indianapolis. With a background in both marketing and video production, I love working with businesses to create thoughtful brand content.

Here's how I got here...

2011

A Photographer is Born

The first time I thought, “Wow, I took that?” was on a class trip to Costa Rica in fifth grade. My dad had gotten me a digital camera for the trip, and while on a hike, I took a photo of a red tree frog. My classmates gathered around, “oohing” and “aahing,” and I felt so proud. After that trip, I came home with a fresh revelation: I was now a self-proclaimed photographer (at 12 years old).

2016

Photography or Marketing?

After being accepted into Indiana University, I was torn between majoring in Photography (the fun decision) or Marketing (the smart decision). I ultimately chose to major in Marketing and minor in Photography, knowing that at some point I would find my way back to my passion.

2020

A Study on Sales

After graduation, I worked in corporate sales and marketing for a Fortune 500 automotive company. In this role, I managed several sales territories and advised on how to consistently meet sales and marketing metrics. I helped keep their advertising aligned with corporate branding while making sure they were still connecting with customers.

2023

What is Video Production?

As many people in my life had predicted, I found myself longing for a more creative career. A friend of mine jokingly suggested hiring me as a “Commercial Video Producer,” to which I replied, “What would I even do?” The joke soon became a reality, and I found myself producing commercials for companies in the disc golf world as well as working as a freelance production coordinator here in Indianapolis.

Studio Lex LLC

Having a very entrepreneurial community, I quickly noticed, after beginning my work in commercial production, how many small businesses lack the time to maintain a consistent online presence. The digital world moves quickly, and many entrepreneurs wear too many hats to keep up with things like website updates and social media. That’s how Studio Lex was born, a natural blend of my experience in video production, sales, and marketing.
